The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) today issued a final rule to establish a temporary certification program for electronic health record (EHR) technology. Most of the 1,500 largest U.S. hospitals have already deployed electronic health record systems. Not so for the nation’s 700,000 practicing doctors.
